Education is not free in Kenya.
There are millions of children in Kenya who aren’t in school or are kicked out regularly because their families can’t pay the basic fees (which can be anywhere from $100 to $1000 a year). These children live in fear of being called from class and sent home.
Several of our players missed months, even years, of school because they couldn’t pay the school fees. If it wasn’t for Kenya Lacrosse, many of them wouldn’t have been in school or have graduated.
The producers of ‘Sleeping Warrior’ want to help as many kids as possible get a basic education. We are putting profits from ‘Sleeping Warrior’ towards kids education in Kenya. During the pandemic, schools were closed suddenly, so we sent teachers into orphanages and set up a temporary school at a camp and helped educate over 80 kids for 7 months.
We haven’t yet applied to be an official charity, but we have been raising money and letting our donors know what’s happening with the money.
If you would like to donate, please go to our gofundme page and donate. If you would like to find out more, please contact Janet at [email protected] or Nina at [email protected] and we can tell you more.
Thanks!
